Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2015 from Bertani is a beautifully crafted wine from the Tenuta Novare Estate in the Valpolicella Classica region. This vintage is a harmonious blend of 80% Corvina Veronese and 20% Rondinella grapes, grown in soil rich in limestone and vulcanite.
The vines, trained using the Double Guyot system, are planted at a density of 5000 vines per hectare, with an average age of 20 years. These vines produce around 100 quintals per hectare, ensuring high-quality grapes.
The winemaking process involves air-drying the grapes in traditional rooms without artificial temperature or humidity controls. After resting on racks for 99 days, the grapes are crushed in early January. The wine then ages for eight years in 50-100 hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels, followed by at least one more year of bottle maturation to achieve its full potential.
With an alcohol content of 15.5%, total acidity of 6 g/l, and a pH of 3.45, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a sensory delight from the first sip. Its nose, reminiscent of Barolo, offers a wide array of aromas, while the palate is rich and intense. The wine’s structure is highlighted by grainy tannins and a cedary undertone, contributing to its impressive complexity.
Ideal for pairing with red meat, game, or mature cheeses, this wine also stands out as a meditation wine, perfect for enjoying on its own to appreciate its depth and elegance.
