It works! I don’t know why they wanted me to rate the temperature control because you cannot control the temperature. However, it seems to work just great because all of my seeds are sprouting and it’s the dead of winter here in Southern California, a.k.a. 80° every day, but I was having trouble getting my lettuce seeds to sprout in the tower garden all by itself so I bought this mat and it sprouted every single seed. It works really great. I have recommended them to my friends and they are happy as well.
Great product！ Product is great and works well for Kombucha brewing in the location I'm currently brewing. Receive temperature around 87' using a 2 gallon glass container in a room temperature/low draft area. I also enjoy that it comes with the black rubber band and the temperature strip. The black rubber band can be substituted but it's annoying once the one breaks, wish they included two. There is no temperature control with this product outside of expected temperature above ambient temperature which is about 15' when at room temp.
Get growing!!! This had to be one of the best packed items I have ever bought anywhere. It was in a plastic bag that was in a permanent carry bag that was in a box that was in a big shipping envelope. As far as using the mat, it’s a piece of cake; you plug it in and set your seed bed on top of it. The bed I am using is small enough that I can then wrap about 1/3 of the mat up over the side and top. It’s keeping constant temperature of 80°. I heated up the bed for about 24 hours and then started putting seeds in. Can’t wait to see how it works.
This mat works just fine! I was nervous about buying this mat because of some of the reviews, but I took the chance, and so far it's working great. The instructions tell you to put some insulation under it if it's going to be on a cold surface, so since I'm using it on the brick area around to my fireplace, I put some shallow cardboard boxes under it. When I touch the mat, it's nice and warm, perfect to stimulate more root growth in the rooted cuttings that I'm growing in soil. I have three 4-in. pots and two 6-in. pots sitting on it, and one of the plants definitely seems to be growing faster since I got the mat.
Well-constructed. Quality material. This heat mat comes attractively packaged. Upon opening the box and unrolling the mat, I was impressed with how the mat looked and how well put together it appeared. After plugging it in, the mat warmed up to a reasonable temperature and held it. I'll be using this mat to accomplish a variety of tasks, from starting seedlings for my garden beds to helping proof bread dough in my somewhat cool kitchen.
Working great So far this warming pad is working great. I kinda wish it had a timer on it but for this price, I can just unplug it if I want to. It fits a 72 seed pod tray perfectly. I plan on getting another one. It works in my tiny greenhouse I'm using for the first time this year and I'm starting the seeds outside instead of in the house. You can see where the heater is creating a bit of a fog, so it's working. I'll be buying another one unless something goes wrong in the next few days or so.
Efficient and great value for seed starting I’ve had this heating mat for a month now, and so far so good. I’m using it with an InkbirdSmart thermostat controller based on other reviews. I got this for my first year of seed starting indoors because I didn’t want to invest a lot of money yet in a new hobby. All of the different seeds I’ve started so far have germinated faster than expected, and the seedlings are taking off. I have it on a wood work table in a relatively cold room in our house, and it hasn’t messed the table up at all. If I knew the mat was going to work this well, I probably would’ve gone with the larger size so I can keep plants on it for winter warmth.
Helped a first time gardener This is the first year that I'm attempting to start my own garden and with the COVID19 quarantine, it's been hard to purchase plants so I wanted to try starting some with seeds. I don't have a green thumb so I did a lot of research and found that if you start your seeds indoors and keep the soil warm and moist that you would have a better chance of sprouting seeds. I used this heating mat and after 3 days, my zucchini, tomato, and cucumber plants started sprouting!
Like a cheat code for seed germination "If you’re on the fence about trying a heating mat or feel it’s an unnecessary luxury...hear me out. I’ve previously used a combination of water soaking, paper towel method, jiffy pellets, root riots, or placing directly into soil when germinating seeds. The fastest methods establish initial tap roots from seed within 48-72 hours (water soak and paper towel) which then has to be carefully transferred to another medium (jiffy, root root, soil, etc.) and wait for the “seed pop” as it sprouts from the growing medium. This can usually take another 48-72 hours depending on the environment of the medium and surrounding environment. Once I started using this heat mat, I’ve produced a personal best “seed pop” from the growing medium within 58 hours! These work fantastic with the plastic jiffy pellet houses and makes a perfect humid/warm environment for the seeds to sprout quickly. I highly recommend giving this mat a try if you would like to cut your germination times by a few days."
